Terms of Use

Effective 22 October 2026. These terms are the agreement between you and ChordPen. They are written to be read: if anything is unclear, write to us at support@chordpen.com.

1. Who we are

ChordPen is operated by [to be completed], a sole proprietor registered in Israel (business number [to be completed]), [to be completed] ("ChordPen", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@chordpen.com.

2. Agreeing to these terms

You agree to these terms, and to YouTube's Terms of Service (section 7), when you tick the box that asks for your agreement after you first sign in. If you do not agree, do not use ChordPen. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information, and our Refunds and Cancellation policy explains how to cancel and get your money back; both are part of these terms.

3. Who can use ChordPen

4. The service

ChordPen is a web application for writing, viewing, playing and exporting chord charts. Your charts are kept in your account and on the devices you sign in on.

Free and Pro

Changes to the service

We keep improving ChordPen and may add, change or remove features. We will not take away a main feature of Pro during a period you have paid for. If we make a change that is more than minor and works against you, we will tell you in advance; you may then cancel, and if you do we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

Availability

We work to keep ChordPen available, and it keeps working on your device without a connection. We cannot promise that it will always be available without interruption, for example during maintenance or a failure at one of our providers. Keep a backup of charts you cannot afford to lose: Settings exports one at any time.

5. Pro, payments and Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy Pro you buy it from Paddle, under Paddle's Buyer Terms, which Paddle shows you at checkout.

6. Your charts

7. YouTube

ChordPen uses YouTube API Services to play a YouTube video you attach to a chart, in YouTube's own player. By using ChordPen you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, which allow personal viewing. YouTube is provided by Google, whose Privacy Policy applies to it. ChordPen never downloads, stores or changes a video; it keeps only the link you gave it.

8. Using ChordPen fairly

Do not use ChordPen to break the law or anyone's rights, and do not:

9. Reporting illegal content, and contact points

If you believe content stored in ChordPen is illegal, or infringes your rights, write to support@chordpen.com with: where it is, why you believe it is illegal or infringing, your name and email address, and a statement that you believe in good faith that your notice is accurate and complete. We will confirm that we received it, look into it with care, decide without undue delay and tell you what we decided.

If we restrict content or an account, we will tell the person concerned why, unless the law forbids it, and they may reply to us to contest the decision. The same address is our point of contact for users and for authorities, in English or Hebrew.

10. Ending your use of ChordPen

11. What is ours

The ChordPen software, its design, the name ChordPen and its logo belong to us. These terms give you the right to use ChordPen, not ownership of it. If you send us a suggestion, we may use it freely, with no obligation to you.

12. Our responsibility to you

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. We will tell you of an important change at least 30 days before it applies, by email or in ChordPen, and ask for your agreement again in ChordPen. If you do not agree, you may cancel and delete your account before the change applies, and we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

14. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa may hear disputes about them. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
